Before you begin, make sure both the Hilo Band and the Hilo Cuff are fully charged.
When should I take a calibration measurement?
Many users find it easiest to perform calibrations at consistent times, such as:
In the morning, before starting the day
In the evening, after work
Before going to bed
For the best measurement conditions, avoid the following for at least 30 minutes before calibration:
Eating
Drinking caffeine
Smoking
Physical activity
Alcohol
Stressful situations
Calibration steps
Position your Hilo Band correctly
Place the bracelet on the top (external side) of your wrist, and above your wrist bone.
The sensor must remain in direct contact with your skin. The band should feel snug but comfortable.
If you see a "poor signal quality" message:
Remove the band
Rub your wrist gently for around 10 seconds to improve circulation
Re-position and tighten the band so it fits firmly against the skin
2 Position the Hilo Cuff and adjust the tightness
Place the cuff on your upper arm, directly on the skin (do not roll up your sleeve as this may restrict blood flow).
The solid part with the logo should be on the inside of your arm, above the artery, with the logo and blue light facing downwards towards the elbow.
The cuff should sit 2-3 cm above the elbow.
Tighten the cuss so it feels secure but you can still slide two fingers between your arm and the cuff.
3 Sit in the correct position
Sit comfortably with your back supported and both feet flat on the floor.
Your forearm should rest on a flat surface, from hand to elbow. Make sure the edge of the table is not restricting your bloodflow.
Important:
The band and cuff must be on opposite arms
Do not talk or move during the measurement
Rest quietly for 5 minutes before starting
To ensure a successful calibration, the following activities should be avoided for at least 30 minutes prior to taking the measurement:
Physical activity
Caffeinated beverages
Smoking
If calibration fails
Occasionally a calibration may not succeed even if the instructions are followed.
This can happen if:
Wrist circulation is temporarily low
Blood pressure varies too much during the measurement
If this happens, the Hilo App will ask you to stop and try again later.
Please wait at least 2 hours before attempting another calibration.
If calibration fails three times at different times of day, please contact Hilo Support for assistance.
