Both the Hilo Band and the Hilo phone measurements use Photoplethysmography (PPG) technology to assess blood pressure and heart rate.
Hilo phone measurements involves placing your index finger over a compatible smartphone's rear camera lens, offering a quick, on-demand option that avoids the discomfort of cuff inflation. However, it does not provide continual monitoring, making it more suitable for occasional checks.
In contrast, the Hilo Band measures PPG signals on the wrist, providing continual monitoring throughout the day and night. It displays the average of all readings taken within a two-hour time window, offering a smoothed curve that better reflects your cardiovascular condition. The bracelet also helps monitor the duration spent in hypertension—a critical factor in managing health risks associated with prolonged elevated blood pressure—and requires calibration with a cuff once a month.
Neither method provides diagnostic information, and users should consult a physician for health evaluations.
