Before you begin, please ensure that both the bracelet and the cuff are fully charged.

The ideal times to take a blood pressure reading may vary based on your daily routine. However, many users find it helpful to take measurements at the following times:

  • In the morning, before starting the day

  • In the evening, after work

  • Just before going to bed

Please note that blood pressure readings can be temporarily influenced by various factors, such as:

  • Eating

  • Caffeine consumption

  • Smoking

  • Physical activity

  • Alcohol intake

  • Stress

For the most accurate results, we recommend avoiding these activities for at least 30 minutes prior to taking a measurement.

If you are having troubles with the initialization process and have seen the error message signaling “poor signal quality”, please try the following:

          1. Take off the bracelet

          2. Rub your wrist’s skin for around 10 seconds to improve skin perfusion

          3. Tighten your bracelet again so that it is well in contact with your skin

2

Place your cuff and adjust the tightness

Remove the garments from your upper arm. Do not roll up your sleeve as this may cause blood flow constriction and affect the quality of the measurement. Tighten your Hilo cuff on your left arm. The solid part with the logo is positioned on the inside of your arm, above the artery, with the logo and blue light facing down, towards the elbow, as shown on the following picture:

The cuff measurement body is aligned with your brachial artery and sits 2-3 cm above your elbow joint.

The cuff should fit snugly around your arm but you should be able to slide two fingers between your arm and the cuff.

3

Adjust your posture for the measurement

During the measurement, your entire forearm, from hand to elbow, is resting on a flat surface.

Make sure your forearm is NOT leaning against the table edge to avoid constriction on the brachial artery.

Seated, lean your back against the chair in a relaxed but straight position. Both your feet should be on the ground, your knees forming a 90 degree angle.

Both forearms are resting on a flat surface.

The bracelet and the cuff are on opposite arms.

Before starting the initialization process please relax in a seated position for 5 minutes.

To ensure a successful initialization please:

          • Do not perform physical activities during the 30 minutes preceding the measurement;

          • Do not drink caffeinated beverages during the 30 minutes preceding the measurement;

          • Do not smoke during the 30 minutes preceding the measurement;

          • Do not speak or move during the measurement.

Please note that sometimes, despite having followed all the steps carefully, a successful measurement cannot be performed.

This may be due to low skin perfusion at your wrist or to your blood pressure varying too much within the measurements. In these cases, Hilo App will ask you to quit the measurement and come back in few hours, to ensure the accuracy of the measurement.

It is important to follow the instructions and wait at least 2 hours before trying again.
